12 Jul 2015(Sana Sayed): Guys! We all make
mistakes, like they say, “To err is human”. So did Jackky Bhagnani last year
when on October 10, 2014, he misspelt Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai’s name as
Masala in his Tweet. Jackky Tweeted, “Such good news to hear about masala and
the noble peace price. My speech in #Youngistaan was inspired by her.” With
three spelling mistakes in his tweet (about someone fighting for the right to
education!) Jackky’s efforts to appreciate Malala fell flat and grabbed
eyeballs for the wrong reasons. Time passed and everyone forgot the story but
this young actor did not! He recently shot a video with #fame as a tribute to
Malala Yousafzai for her birthday on July 12.
Here’s why we think Jackky is a Rockstar for making this
video:
1) He’s got his priorities
sorted: In a time when everyone is consumed by vanity, Jackky is one of those
rare actors willing to admit his mistake and laugh at himself, as long as the
larger picture gets noticed!
2) Jackky chooses to go
public to apologize for his faux pas: Let’s admit, social media can be
unforgiving. Despite knowing all too well about trollers, Jackky chose to shoot
a video to talk about his mistake. In the days of everything going Digital,
video is the best possible way to say something. Go public and apologize
honestly. Jackky, we loved it!
3) Jackky accepts his
mistake out loud: This is one of the toughest things to do in life – to admit
your own mistake “OUT LOUD”. But this guy did it brilliantly in this video. And
we can see his sorry expressions too. Jackky you rocked this time for sure!
4) Jackky cares: In the
video, he’s taking a sincere and clear stand for human rights. How often do you
see a known personality throwing his weight behind another personality, despite
possible backlash, and for no selfish gains?!
5) Jackky reminds the world
of Malala: Let’s be honest guys, not many of us remember people like Malala
Yousafzai on her birthday until we spot a video talking about her! It is sad to
admit that most youngsters are clueless about Malala Yousafzai and her
contribution for human rights advocacy of education for women. Jackky, in the video,
talks about Malala, her contribution and her achievements. We hope that after
watching this video more people will recognize her. Those adorable kids in the
video will for sure!
6) No-film Promotion: Yes
guys, Jackky is not looking to be in news, he has no films coming up right now.
This isn’t a publicity gimmick. He did this video for a cause with #fame. Read
that again – FOR A CAUSE! Go watch it now!
7) That Beard: Seals the
deal for us!
Jackky you did a great job this time. Makes us wish we
had a professor as hot as you! Kudos to your effort. And yes, Happy Birthday
Malala. Like Jackky said, “Thank you for the inspiration!”
